Amigos de ˇSí a la Vida! |

Partners for Health is a Seattle-based organization that was very active during the 1980's in providing medical aid and support to Nicaragua during the Reagan-backed Contra War. Since the Sandinista electoral loss in 1990, Partners for Health has been less active, with only occasional work on Nicaraguan projects. Several of its members have been strong individual supporters of Sí a la Vida since its founding in 1994, and they suggested bringing the two groups together. On July 16, 2000, representative members of Amigos de Sí a la Vida, the Northwest support group, met with officers of Partners for Health to become official members of that organization and form an active committee under their sponsorship. This agreement was ratified at the August 27 meeting of the Amigos de Sí a la Vida support group, with the new sponsorship beginning in January, 2001. The Northwest support group now functions as a Committee of Partners for Health, with the title "Amigos de Sí a la Vida". This new agreement, providing fiscal sponsorship for the project, relieves University Friends Meeting in Seattle of the growing responsibility of handling donations and grants for Sí a la Vida. Partners for Health enjoys 501c3 tax exempt status, and all donations continue to be IRS tax exempt to the full extent of federal law. If you should send gifts or donations for Sí a la Vida to University Friends Meeting after January 1, 2001, they will be transferred to Partners for Health. This new status for Amigos de Sí a la Vida in no way affects our close ties with UFM. University Friends Meeting continues its spiritual and moral support for the Street Kids Project, as do other Friends Meetings and Worship groups in the Puget Sound region and beyond.
